IYAC/ACYI is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and governing the work of Sri B.K.S Iyengar in Canada. Active since 1988 and incorporated in 2000, the IYAC/ACYI membership draws from all regions of Canada.

IYAC/ACYI as the governing body for Iyengar Yoga in Canada, we set the requirements and standards for teacher training and we certify teachers through annual assessments held in various parts of the country. Click on Events for a current listing of teacher training workshops and assessments.

We host a variety of events including workshops and national conferences such as the one which brought Geeta Iyengar, Sri B. K. S. Iyengar’s daughter and internationally revered teacher of her father’s system, to Vancouver, B.C. in May, 2001 and to Penticton, B.C.in May 2008, for opportunities to study Iyengar Yoga from the source.

IYAC/ACYI is the Canadian liaison with the Iyengar family and coordinates studies by Canadian practitioners at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India.

IYAC/ACYI maintains an extensive Library for the benefit of its members. To access the Library catalog and borrowing information, please login and go to the “Members” section of the website.

IYAC/ACYI upholds a rigorous Code of Ethics for its teachers and has a professional system for dealing with complaints and appeals.
