Iyengar yoga in Manitoba

During the national conference in Montreal in April 2025, representatives from the various parts of Canada gave overviews of Iyengar yoga in their regions. Over the coming months, we will publish excerpts from these presentations.

IYENGAR YOGA IN MANITOBA

From Regan Tataryn, Winnipeg…

We currently have seven certified teachers and one apprentice in Manitoba. I think the most interesting thing about our province is that we all had our initial training from the same teacher, Val Paape, who is now retired. I don’t know the exact number, but she must have trained well over 15 people who went on to be certified, and many others who chose not to follow the path of certificiation. I am now mentoring my first apprentice, and it is such an amazing experience! The circle continues ????.

Nous avons actuellement sept professeurs certifiés et un apprenti au Manitoba. Je pense que ce qui est le plus intéressant dans notre province, c’est que nous avons tous suivi notre formation initiale auprès du même professeur, Val Paape, qui est aujourd’hui à la retraite. Je ne connais pas le nombre exact, mais elle a dû former plus de 15 personnes qui ont obtenu leur certification, et beaucoup d’autres qui ont choisi de ne pas suivre cette voie. Je suis actuellement le mentor de mon premier apprenti, et c’est une expérience extraordinaire ! Le cercle continue ????.
