In Tracadie, Nova Scotia…

We had a small turnout for the day but it felt very worthwhile.  All of those who attended said that they had fun.

We started off the morning around 10 am with Hana Weingartl reading a little article about B.K.S. Iyengar, his development of props and his students’ contribution to their creation.  She also spoke about the foundation stones of Iyengar yoga and his fortuitous meeting with Yehudi Menuhin.

Elaine Pettipas, who is apprenticing with me and will sit her assessment this fall, led us through a Sūryanamaskāra series. Then I taught an hour-long class exploring a few poses from each of the families of āsana, sharing some insights on sequencing and explaining how we learn to move from very stable poses in all the families to more challenging ones where we also need a “looseness of mind“.

This was followed by a very delicious pot luck lunch with lively conversation and a beautiful feeling of goodwill and positivity about our Iyengar yoga community .
