IYAC/ACYI continues its commitment to seeing that our teaching members take responsibility for providing safe and secure yoga teaching environments free from all forms of discrimination, including but not limited to bullying, harassment and abuse of power/position. Should you have any concerns or complaints about your teacher or any IYAC/ACYI teaching member, or should you have any questions about IYAC/ACYI’s complaint process, we encourage you to contact Susan Brimner. We will respect your confidentiality and will not take any further steps towards an investigation without your approval, unless required to do so by law. If you are concerned that any illegal actions may have taken place, we suggest that you contact your local police for advice, and also inform us.
Our Ethics Advisor
Susan Brimner is a Registered Massage Therapist, and a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher at Yoga Centre London. She is well qualified to assist the Ethics Committee of the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada/Association canadienne de yoga Iyengar by receiving member concerns. Her professional ethics background encompasses a wide range of skills, which include teaching professional and ethics programs at a recognized Massage Therapy College. Sue has worked for the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (the profession’s regulatory body) assessing massage therapists’ practice. She assisted the CMTO in writing best practice and professional and ethics documents. Most of her work at the CMTO was to ensure that massage therapists complied with standards of practice, as well as professional and ethics procedures and behaviours. She looks forward to assisting IYAC/ACYI in matters of professional ethics.
