There are various committees and groups that help ensure the smooth running of the organization. Brief descriptions can be found below. If you are interested in helping out with any of these or have any questions, please reach out to the point of contact.
Assessment Round Table
The Assessment Round Table (ART) plans and organizes assessments. We solicit applications, find host communities, communicate with mentors, engage available assessors, keep track of expenses, send out the exams, maintain records, and are responsible for many other details related to assessments. We work with the ERT on professional development activities.

Certification Mark Fund Committee
The Certification Mark Fund exists to develop and promote Iyengar Yoga in Canada. Forty percent of the annual certification mark fees remain in Canada for this purpose.
The Certification Mark Fund Committee (CMF Committee) oversees the request for Certification Mark funds (CM Funds). Applicants for CM Funds must be IYAC/ACYI members in good standing, who hold the Certification Mark. Their proposals must meet the criteria set by the IYAC/ACYI Board.
CM Fund application information, eligibility criteria, and the application form are in the Member’s section of the IYAC/ACYI website under My Account | Member’s Documents. To access these forms, type “Certification Mark Fund” in the Search bar.

Education Round Table
The Education Round Table (ERT) is composed of approximately 35 experienced Canadian CIYTs, who work together to plan and offer free, online and in-person educational activities for all IYAC/ACYI members. We work with the ART on professional development activities.

ERT Mentorship
Mentorship in all its aspects is part of the Education Round Table’s responsibilities. We promote RIMYI’s approach to mentorship among Canadian mentors, support them in their mentoring, and share information with them. We provide opportunities for mentors to have conversations with one another, so they can be as clear and as supportive as possible when they guide their apprentices.

Ethics Committee
The Ethics Committee responds to requests for information regarding the expected conduct of IYAC/ACYI members and is responsible for responding to ethical complaints and concerns. All members are encouraged to consult with colleagues and senior teachers regarding questions of conduct and ethical practice. The Ethics committee is also available for consultation.

Nomination Committee
Any IYAC/ACYI teaching member can ask to stand for a vacant Board position. The nomination committee actively seeks individuals for Board positions.

Scholarship Committee
The Scholarship Committee provides notice of all scholarships available to IYAC/ACYI members and reviews all scholarship applications.

Senior Teachers Advisory Group
The Senior Teachers Advisory Group is available for consultation by the President of IYAC/ACYI on behalf of the Board of Directors on matters related to teaching and practice of Iyengar Yoga in Canada.

Special Circumstances Committee
If any teaching member of IYAC/ACYI is unable to complete the yearly requirements for continued registration they can explain their situation in their request for registration renewal. The Special Circumstances Committee reviews these requests.

Strategic Planning
The Strategic Planning committee was created in 2025 to critically evaluate IYAC/ACYI’s mission and vision. This committee creates and presents our collective goals to the board, and together we agree upon our initiatives and action plan going forward.
