Jane Munro, of Vancouver BC, is a dedicated yogi and noted poet. She has often been inspired by her studies at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India. Her reflections on these studies figure in her recently published memoir, Open Every Window (Douglas & McIntyre, 2021).
The excerpt below describes Jane’s encounter with B.K.S. Iyengar in Pune in 2009. As we mark the anniversary of his birth (14 December 1918), this story reveals for us just a bit of the wisdom he offered to us throughout his long life.
