NEW DELHI: "Will you teach me yoga?" It was a routine question but it left Iyengar yoga teacher Nivedita Joshi speechless: the man in the lobby of her school was holding a white cane but he seemed to have no doubts that he was fit for the world's most rigorous yoga system. "And I want to be in your normal class," he added, for good measure.

On a sunny Saturday morning, my husband and I went to our first Iyengar yoga class – and his first yoga class, ever – at The Yoga Space, located just behind the Olympic Village on False Creek in Vancouver.
